The true star of the show, however, is the food. Each meal is crafted with fresh ingredients, though some guests noted that the desserts could improve, with a particular emphasis on freshness.
One of the highlights at Warteg is their fiery chili sauce, which has left patrons like Betül Türkyilmaz yearning for more—it’s a perfect accompaniment to the meals, adding a robust flavor that complements the dishes beautifully. Additionally, the authentic Indonesian spiciness, described by Yornik Heyl, is a true celebration of flavors, ensuring a worthy adventure for those who dare to try.

“ Great atmosphere, very friendly service and personnel and most importantly the food was very delicious! The chili sauce was amazing. Very popular, so be sure to make a reservation in advance. Can’t wait to come back :) ”
“ I would recommend this place to my friend when visiting Aachen. I like sate ayam so much. It was juicy. The first time i went here i had bebek and it was also good. The dessert was just oke. My friend found that some ingredients in the dessert were not very fresh especially the avocado. But overall i really like this place. ”
“ Veryyy friendly staff, they are very polite and respectful. The food is amazing, especially for meat lovers. I would highly recommend visiting this restaurant. This was my first Indonesian food experience and I can say it is one of a kind. ”
“ Really authentic the menu is German but they speak English also scharf is well authentic Indonesian spicy. (So be careful of you not used to it) ”
“ Food: Iga Bakar + Bakmie TekTek Drink: Happy Soda + Sweet Ice Tea Result: Happy Belly + Happy Wallet The Menu is very inviting seems like I want to eat it all. The place is very comfortable, clean, spotless! The staff are veryyy polite even after I broke one glass, ooppss sorry! Evelyn, Randy and Lina are top! ”
“ been here couple times and the food & service always amazing!! Ordered iga bakar with extra extra spicy sambal terasi and I got the food exactly like I want!! I had the spiciest sambal I’ve ever tried in Europe (thanks to Mulya for the service and kitchen team !! :)) ”
“ Very clean place, far from overtourism area. All dishes are prepared according to Indonesian recipes. Half of dishes can be spicy if you add a sauce they serve in SEPARATE little cup. To-date they have been working on this restaurant one year (they opened in August 2024). Don't miss the Indonesian dessert, don't miss the incredible Indonesian coffee (with powder, likewise the greek one if you understand but the taste is totally different). Honest prices, generally 50% less than downtown. Most guests are students of the university. VERY LIMITED PLACES. THE ADVICE IS TO RESERVE A TABLE IN ADVANCE. As the boss and waiters are extremely friendly (even uncommonly friendly, in a world lacking empathy) I asked them about their story briefly and in one of the rare moments of time-break: The staff of this restaurant are all from Indonesia. They are or they were students of university, who eventually decided to invest money in this business. The boss is an educated and well-mannered gentleman who treats the customers with a high focus to treat them well. The waitress helping us is trilingual and is a very clean (the way she dresses gives an idea of cleaness and freshness) and polite. I wish all the best to these young and dynamic entrepreneurs, joy for our tongues and stomachs. I am sure that the boss is already planning to open a larger restaurant with more seats. ”
“ I came here because my friend said it's her favorite restaurant, and the food quality is indeed really good. I have never tried Indonesian food before so I couldn't say whether it's authentic or not, but the overall food and ambience is great! I couldn't remember the name of the dishes so only photo, but have to say the beef broth taste delicious! The rice with grilled beef rib is also must try (15.9€), it's a very fulfilling meal. The rice with chicken satay is also amazing, but maybe a bit too much sauce . The other noodle is also good but the grilled beef rib is the most impressive. I also got to try the dessert and the restaurant recommendation is definitely a must-try. We're very full by the end of the meal but it's really good we managed to finish it. ”
